About Pend Oreille Fire District 4
Pend Oreille Fire District 4 covers 96 square miles in the northeast corner of Washington State and the central part of Pend Oreille County. Our mutual aid agreements with three adjoining districts and the City of Newport, Town of Cusick and the Kalispel Tribe of Indians bring our total coverage to 287 square miles. Fire District 4 is also the home of one of the largest newspaper print producers in the western United States as well as various other commercial, recreational and residential residents.
Our members respond out of three stations on a 24/7 basis to provide a first due response for fire, rescue, emergency medical services, extrication and hazardous materials.
On October 5, 1978, the voters approved the formation of Pend Oreille Fire District 4. On January 1, 1979, we officially became a fire district.
